Hi everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend so far!
Since the Epiphany is over now, we took down all of our Christmas décor.
Do you remember this post when I showed you all of my Christmas décor?
My stuff took up a WHOLE room! That’s CRAZY!!! Isn’t it?
I think so!
Anyway, I knew when I was decorating that I had WAY TOO MUCH!!! So I decided that everything that I didn’t use that year, I would donate or save for our annual garage sale.
Since my theme was white and sparkly with some nature accents, I knew that I didn’t want to keep anything red.
I LOVE red but I can’t keep everything! Plus, I changed my house colors from reds and greens to blues and browns so red didn’t match anymore.
It’s a good thing I didn’t buy anything new last year, ha!
I was able to keep everything that I am keeping into 8 bins! I can’t believe it!!!!
We bought a real tree last year and LOVED it so we donated our fake tree to the Goodwill before Christmas…so now I don’t have to store that anymore!
I also decided not to keep anything that does NOT fit in a bin…it is just easier that way! :)
I picked out some really cute scrapbook paper and made some labels for my bins!
(I got my “red” fix in the labels, lol!)
I just love those little Santas! :)
Then I taped them to the bins.
Now they are organized, labeled and ready to go into the basement!
I am excited about all the space I am saving down there by NOT bringing everything back down there.
I can’t forget this picture. My daughter LOVES organizing with me and she had to get in a picture, haha. She makes organizing more fun! She even organizes the candy at the checkout lanes, lol!
So, let’s look at what I USED to have…

WOW!!! Much better! :) I feel like I just lost weight! It’s funny how getting rid of things makes you feel so good! (at least for me)

I put my Christmas decorations away yesterday and today did my tree. I do the same thing...storage bins in the basement. Now back to my regular stuff. Need to find something to go in my vase on the entertainment center.
ReplyDeleteYes...I got rid of some stuff, too! My sweet hubby moved the location of our Christmas stuff from the garage to the attic - which makes it a cinch to put away! I have three fake trees....but we can't have a real one since there are two of us that are severely allergic! Thanks for sharing your great organizing - I love it!

ReplyDeleteFavorite part of this post?? >> Hearing that your daughter loves to organize the candy at checkout... That's something my daugther would do too... I have always said she's going to grow up to be the next Marta...lol
LOL, my daughter was re-arranging her drawers today. It took a little restraint on my part to not move it all back because she was so proud of herself for organizing it. She saw me doing it.

ReplyDeleteI pared down a little and then went and bought some new stuff, not much - couldn't resist!
My mom was a collector of Christmas ornaments. She had one whole room dedicated to their storage. It was amazing!
After she passed away, I divided everything with my siblings and I still have boxes and boxes, on top of my boxes. I managed to keep mine to 6 bins plus a few extra for the china. And I haven't even gotten hers out of storage yet...
There's always next season I guess!
When we got things out of the attic for fall decorating, I went through things then and got rid of a lot of stuff! I also organized my bins and labeled them but not as cute as you did, I just used a 3x5 index card and wrote on there what was in the bin and taped it to the inside of the bin. I use large clear garbage bags for my wreaths and garland so I can see what's inside....hubby still fussed when he had to put it all back, says it's still too much (and it is) but maybe I'll be able to get rid of some more next Christmas.

ReplyDeleteI did a similar post today. I only added to my decor this year. I really, REALLY need to not add anything this year but I don't anticipate that happening.
