Spring Cleaning has Begun

I started my spring cleaning!!!!  I was going to make a big link up party, set dates and have us all clean together (and I still might) but I couldn’t help myself,  I started, lol!

It was beautiful outside and it got my REALLY motivated to clean! haha!

I wasn’t planning on cleaning at all.  It started out with having my kids clean their rooms before heading outside.  I need to by strict about this early in the season so they get in a good habit of picking up everything first.  They need to pick up their rooms and all toys before going out this summer.  I hate coming into our house, after having so much fun outside, to a messy family room full of toys.  So, anyway, we were cleaning their rooms with their windows open and that got me to vacuuming, “deep clean” dusting  to washing their windows.  It was great!  I gave each of them a spray bottle and a cleaning cloth and they helped!  They had fun “spring cleaning” their rooms with me!  Plus, I gave them each a star, lol!  (I will write about our Star Sheet soon.  It is plain, simple and really works!)

Then, I put my Matthew down for his nap and Grace and Michael went outside.  After that, I was like a crazy cleaning lady, lol!

I “deep clean” dusted the house.

Swept and washed the floors.

I washed the other light fixtures.

I washed the dishes. (I mean, the dishwasher did it for me, lol.)

Marinated chicken for grilling.  (I know that is not cleaning but I was excited about of first grill out!! :)

I just couldn’t help myself!  I got a lot done in a short amount of time!  It feels great!!! :)

I did all my cleaning with Basic H and a few drops of an essential oil added to the spray bottle for a fresh scent.  (Basic H doesn’t smell. like anything.)  I just used any brand of oil.

Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate

After Matthew woke up, we all went outside, played and then grilled out!

Here are some photos.

Matthew was being a little stinker here, lol!

I couldn’t wait for my hubs to grill for me again, lol!

2011 03 16_3003  I am glad that I got a great jumpstart on my spring cleaning because as soon as it gets a little nicer out,  I will be spending most of my time outside with them! :)

Did you start you spring cleaning yet?

  1. I have started Spring Cleaning too! I have been doing a series called How Often Do You Clean It, that has helped me to get into all the areas I dont think about often like under the stove, behind the washer and dryer and even taking all my lightbulbs out of the fixtures to give them a good wipe down. Next week is my windows (I HATE THIS CHORE but love the after effect) I am like you though I keep my house spick and span all the time anyway, so theres not a ton to do.

  2. Hi Bonnie,
I start cleaning closets, cupboards and drawers as soon as the Christmas stuff if put away! January is such a boring month that I find it a great time to get started! Usually we are done using our woodstove in March and that's when I start cleaning windows, blinds, moldings, fans and lighting! I try to finish my Spring cleaning by the end of March so that I can move outside come April! Kim

  4. Hi Bonnie
Oh your place looks so spic and span! Your floors look soooo amazing and all the wood does. Don't you just feel great in a nice freshly cleaned home? Spring cleaning is great! Everything smells so good too and you feel energized I bet...well I sure do. I did a bit of spring cleaning a couple of weeks ago when I was bringing out some summer clothes for our upcoming trip. I will do more.

I normally take time to spring clean everything at once...my place is small so it is possible. Then I sit back and admire...

Your little ones are adorable...and so nice that hubby grilled for you. I'm like you in that I don't grill. Its a great "guy" thing...:o)

have a wonderful day...enjoy the sparkle.

  6. I haven't started, but plan to this weekend!

Thanks for mentioning that you add essential oil to your Basic H. I asked someone about it before & they weren't sure, so I didn't do it. I love Shaklee, but have missed a yummy smell to inspire me. All I have is lavender, but may pick up some orange for the kitchen.

  8. Hello! I just found your blog through Kelli's at Through My Kitchen Window.
I liked the name of your blog so I clicked on your link.
Your header is great, and your pictures are beautiful.
I love to get my groove on with a good spring cleaning!
We've been doing a lot of that around here too.
Lovely blog. Have a happy day. :)

  9. Oh, how I wish I had your energy!! I have mountains of backed-up paperwork to tackle and then decluttering. I do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think my "drive gear" has been shoved into "park" with the paperwork. I had such good intentions of following you with the organizing, but I missed you getting back on board after your computer problems. Maybe one day I'll catch up and climb out from under this mountain. Have a great weekend.

  10. I've kind of started to spring clean. Yesterday washed all the comforters and hung them on the line and did some disinfecting as my kiddos have been dealing with a real bad cough. I also had the windows open the last couple of afternoons. I have full intentions to do more and organizing but with the kids down and out its been hard as well i'm a homeschooler so time is limited. But hope to soon get at it. Esp since hubby is in his busy time at work. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation to get started and ideas on how you do things. Your house looks great
