Shaklee’s Basic G {Germicide}

Hello!  I hope that you all had a great weekend!  Are you ready for this week?  I have another extremely busy week…I will keep it a secret on what I am doing for now but, I am totally excited right now!!! :)

What are you doing this week?  Anything exciting?  Are you busy?

Ok, onto the post…

I wrote this post almost a year ago but wanted to re-post it because I get a lot of people asking me about it.  Also, there was a typo in the dilution amounts.

I have been getting numerous emails about how to use  Basic G, Shaklee’s Natural Germicide.  So, today I am writing a post to let everyone know about our safer alternative to Lysol or Bleach and how to use it.

The safest disinfectant on the market! Nonflammable, Biodegradable & Non-toxic. Cleans, Disinfects & Deodorizes in 1 Easy Step! (Once mixed, use in 30 days)

Mix 3/8 teaspoon to 16 oz spray bottle.

Mix 1 tablespoon to 1 gallon of water.

Because it is so concentrated, a little goes a long way and saves your wallet!

Shaklee Basic G is an amazing non-toxic Germicide that I have used for 11 years, even when pregnant.

I sometimes use this 16 oz. bottle that Shaklee carries…

and sometimes I use this 32 oz. bottle, that I picked up at a dollar store.

Basic-G has a 3 year shelf life. Its residual effectiveness lasts up to three days after application. Chlorine (bleach) used as a disinfectant is effective no more than one hour. Great wherever disinfectants are used! Kills up to 99% of bacteria.

Use as a Weed Killer

1-gallon Water

1-tblspn of Shaklee Basic G

1/2-cup of white vinegar

Makes the best weed killer, and it is safe

More Info:

For diapers and other problem jobs: Add 1 teaspoon per load to deodorize and disinfect. Helps eliminate diaper rash!

Safe to use as an air freshener.

Safe for stainless steel & aluminum.

It is safe to  use on hard, non-porous surfaces.

Great for disinfecting throughout your house

EPA registered

One quart makes up to 64 gallons

Basic G kills 32 pathogens while Lysol only kills 8 pathogens.

One question we have heard over the years is about  the labeling on the bottle.  “If it is non-toxic, why are there warnings on the bottle?”

According to EPA standards, bottles must be labeled according to what is IN the bottle.  Now, remember, more than 80,000 products are not registered with the EPA or labeled correctly.  This is a plus for Shaklee and their reputation for integrity in that it is registered and labeled correctly.  So when it comes to the concentrated form of Basic G, if what is IN the bottle were to be consumed, it is toxic by EPA standards.  However, it is not nearly as toxic as other cleaners. However, in it’s properly diluted form it is completely non-toxic and not harmful at all.

Shaklee did not put it in the Get Clean line because the advertising of that line is all Non Toxic. While Basic G is non-toxic when diluted it is not in it’s concentrated form thus they left it out of the line.

  3. Is it possible to mix this with the Basic H to have one bottle of cleaner/disinfectant or do they need to be in two separate bottles? Thanks!

  4. Ditto To Kelly. I mix them but now I'm wondering if that's okay or not. Thanks so much for the info. I love Shaklee's cleaner.

  6. I just found your blog and started using Shaklee products...and loving them! Can you spray Basic G on furniture to disinfect like you can Lysol? Really only 3/8 of a tsp.? It barely seems like any in the bottle. My daughter has Cystic Fibrosis so this will be a great germ killer and won't hurt her lungs :)

  7. Hi Misty~!

I am so glad that you found my blog! :)

You cannot spray the Basic G like a lysol because you need to wipe off after use.

    Yes, only 3/8 tsp.!!!

I love this stuff and it will be great for your daughter!

    Have a great day,

    Bonnie

  8. Hi! Just found your blog today as I am seeking to find the answer to a question about Basic G. Have you ever used Basic G on copper or brass? I want to be sure it won't hurt these surfaces. Much thanks for any help you can give!

  9. Hi Bonnie! Ignore my email...found my answer in this post! One more question...as far as a weed killer goes, will it hurt grass? Like if I want to use it on my lawn for pre-emergent weeds this spring (or now, it is Texas), can I use it on the lawn?

    THANKS!!

  10. Does this product leave a sticky film on linoleum or tile floors?

  11. Monica! I think it would if you didn't wipe it up. It needs to be rinsed after use. I hope this helps! :)
