Welcome to my series, Organize your Life!
This week I organized all the back to school items!
Last week, I did all my back-to-school shopping and it feels great! Well, I really only had to buy for one because Michael didn’t need anything for his pre-school.
I tried doing a one-stop-shop at Target and I was pretty successful except for a special clay they needed and I didn’t like all their folders.
When I got home, Grace helped me go through everything.
I grabbed my list and we double checked everything.
She loves to help me!
Since, there was a sale, I bought extra supplies for our craft cabinet.
I was having a really hard time decided what lunchbox to get. I really wanted this one but I am going to start with this regular one and see how it goes. It looks cute and it’s pink so I am sure it will be fine for now.
Once, we organized everything, we placed a lot of the items neatly into her backpack (which I found at a garage sale this spring for $1). I put the rest back into the Target bags, tied them and place them into a closet until school starts!
It feels great to be done! I already have her uniform and shoes ready also! I bought her new socks but I we are going to use the same shirts, jumper and sweater from last year.
As for Michael, I got him a folder and backpack but he doesn’t have a dress code so that is easy.
I am sure something else will come up so that is why I am trying to do what I can do now.
To be honest, I am worried about making her lunch everyday! This is totally new to us and I am going to have to get used to one more thing to do. I will probably make her lunch at night. Mornings are going to be a little crazy this year! I will have to get Grace and Michael totally ready to go and I need to drive them to school daily. I also try to have my workout clothes on so I can head to the gym right after drop off. I am just trying to take advantage of the last couple of weeks with the kids.
We have been busy reading (she loves her new chart), swimming and playing with friends. We are going to the zoo tomorrow and still have a couple of other events planned so we are excited about that!
How is your summer going? Are you ready for school to start?
What are you organizing this week?
Have a great day! :)

I'm going to do my school supply shopping this weekend - tax-free weekend in our state. After school starts and the supplies go on clearance, I'll buy extra for home and start shopping for next school year.
ReplyDeleteRegarding lunches, I find it best to prep the lunchboxes the night before as well. Makes the mornings easier!

I love buying school supplies-something that reconnects me to my childhood. And my kids love it too! Going today to finish our two very complex lists.
ReplyDeleteFor lunches (2 middle schoolers), once a week we divvy out all the sides and place them into their own basket either in the pantry (pretzels, nuts, crackers, etc.) or fridge (yogurt, fruit, veg, cheese) and plan out 2 main courses that are offered every other day (sandwich, salad, cheese/crackers, etc.). Makes it simple to grab and pack things the night before (my kids do it themselves now) and we aren't wasting a lot of food having a different main item each day.
We also have a basket where all the lunchboxes go, along with all the lunch related containers and utensils (yes, I bought separate lunch-box utensils...didn't want to use plastic anymore and the kids seem to throw away the good stuff sometimes). They use all the mismatched napkins from holidays and birthdays, which are in the basket too. Easy, peasy!
LOVE your blog!! Thank you for sharing so many great ideas all the time.
I love new school supplies. It always seems so optimistic. I'm sure you'll work out a good schedule for fixing lunch as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteI've started shopping too, I just posted today about some great ideas for packing their lunches and helping the environment. http://blessingsofastayathomemom.blogspot.com. I usually get all lunches ready the night before...so much easier! Have a great night!

We are homeschooling so our supplies and books are minimal this year (spent $75.00 for books and supplies (so far) this year) and that keeps our supply list low since we can reuse what is left over from last year and just buy what we need as we need it or run out.
ReplyDeleteI think making lunches the night before was always easiest when I was going to school, but put the mayo/mustard type condiments in a separate container for your kids to put on their own, the sandwiches will get soggy (if you go the sandwich route). :)
This makes me excited for the day when I can buy cutie pie school supplies for Aubrey (who is 7 months old.) :) You're such a great mom! I always grab the best inspiration from your blog.
ReplyDeleteOh! Also wanted to mention that I've been helping a friend with her new organizing business. We had to completely overhaul a photo studio and lo and behold, they only used Shaklee products! It was quiet fun to throw out all of the old cleaners they had stored.
Im kind of past the schooling ages, but LOVE a well kept home!
ReplyDeleteI'm following now and will stay tuned ...
You are so organized!! Lunches at night works great in our house, and I started the kids helping to prepare their lunches young. They actually enjoy being a part of the process and make their own choices about what to eat! God bless your school year!!
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie, as usual, you are organized and ready to go. We already did our supply shopping (CHECK!).
ReplyDeleteAbout lunches....our daughter has severe food allergies (peanut/tree nut). So I HAVE to pack her lunch every day. I try to prep as much as I can the night before and usually have a plan for what I'm preparing, other times I just wing it.
Last year, before our big move, I started documenting her daily lunches and how I organize all the 'lunch essentials' in my "Packed with Love" blog label. Hope you can stop by.
