Homemade Apple Crisp

Last week, I celebrated my 26th birthday!!!!  I had a great day just hanging out with my kids.  That is my favorite thing to do in the whole world!

I wanted to share my favorite dessert with you- Apple Crisp!!! I love it and this recipe was my moms that her mom gave to her and it is EXCELLENT!  Yummy!  I am pretty sure that my mom made this for me on most of my birthdays because it is my fav!!!!

Apple Crisp

Topping

1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup softened butter

Pre Heat oven to 350 degrees
Cut up 2 pounds of apples (about 6 medium)
Place in a buttered 8x8 dish
Sprinkle the topping on the apples
Bake for about 40 minutes

*TIP*
I LOVE to double to topping and eat my apple crisp with vanilla ice cream.  I know it is not as healthy that way but it is soooo good!

Do you have a special birthday recipe?

  3. Oh my goodness I love homemade apple crisp! This looks SO delicious. One question - what kind of apples do you use? An apple more on the tart side, or sweet side? (sorry for such a silly question) I can't wait to try this!

  4. SOOO YUMMY LOOKING!!!

Back to the randoms..lol I asked about the homeschooling cause it was something I definitely was considering. The schools around here are pretty bad and now it's "open enrollment" so now classes are even more full of kids being drove from Detroit.
My husband is under the impression if I do home school the kids will be "weird" said they wouldn't know how to interact or something. BUT I think if they are in other activities then they will have time to socialize. Your not supposed to socialize in school anyways your there to learn.
Sooo it came down to me showing him you and telling him look she was home schooled and normal..lol Kids around here are pretty bad and I dont want my kids w/ them. Homeschooling is becoming more popular IMO or maybe Ive just found lots of blogs that do it.

Thanks for the tip on Toning =)

  6. Ha! At my last birthday party I had apple crisp because I LOVE it and I'm not a fan of birthday cake. I would say apple crisp and ice cream is one of my favorite desserts. Doubling the topping sounds lovely!
