I really wish that I had a craft/school room in my house but for now there just isn’t the room.
I thought, “What am I supposed to with all of our crafts?”
I decided to make some of our kitchen’s butler pantry into a craft pantry. We do most of our crafts in the kitchen anyway. I used an upper and lower cabinet to store all of our stuff. I wasn’t actually sure how I was going to store so many things in such a little space. I thought the only way was to use bins.
I looked around at different stores for the right ones and I finally found some at Wal-Mart. They fit into the cabinets perfectly and they were the cheapest too! (Why do bins cost so much anyway?)
When I was at the store, I purchased a TON of different bins because I wasn’t sure how many and what sizes I would need. I just returned to extra.
After, I fit everything in how I wanted to, I made labels for each bin. I used address labels and love how it turned out!
I love that the kids can see through the bins!
Now everything has a spot and I can just take out one bin at a time.
I even saved a spot for easy access to some books, coloring books and color wonder/explosion books.
This is the lower cabinet. On the top shelf, I have a bin for each child with their own school/activity books. They love having their own bin. At the beginning of the day, I just have to bring out 2 bins and the kids always know where keep their stuff.
I also keep extra supplies in here.
Construction paper and scrapbooking supplies are also kept in here.
Here is how it turned out! I am so happy!!!!
My house did get messy while we were trying to get organized, lol! But the kids loved helping me!
How about you, how do you organize you crafts?
Please leave a link if you posted about it.
I would love to check it out.

I think I might have to do something like this too as I use part of my pantry for the same thing and it always looks like a hot mess. I am putting this in my evernote for future reference. Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Its on my to do list too! You are so right, storage containers are so expensive!! The makers know that we all need them, so they get to charge more. Oh well, I'll still buy them, just a little at a time. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWow, you are really organized. I loe it. Looks fabulous. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteAwesome organization! I just have one huge bin and try to cram everything in. As my boys get older, I'm going to have to expand! I like that you use small bins for each kind of art supply. I'm sure it cuts down on the mess!
ReplyDeleteI love how you organized everything. It's going to be so much easier to keep everything that way in their own containers. It looks great. Why do looking at organized closets make me so happy? Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteBonnie you are such an inspiration! I really need something like this but I just don't have the cabinet space.... guess I will just have to keep thinking about it :)
ReplyDeleteWe use a LOT of clear bins around here, too. Even all our toys are sorted in different size bins. I love how neat they make everything look. It's amazing how much stuff you can fit in one, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd, why is it 'everything has to look worse before it can look better'?
Being that we just started homeschooling this morning, Im totally digging this organizational heaven of yours! I love the uniformity of the bins and how everything has its place. I may just have to copy you:)
ReplyDeleteSarah
That looks wonderful! Do You homeschool? I saw you mention school/activity boxes so I was thinking that you might. If you do I'd love to know when you started, what you use, etc. I'm a beginner so I'm trying to gather everything together and get ideas!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! You're the "kick in the bum" I needed. Off to organize!!

ReplyDeleteI am now following you by way of Kristin @ My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia. I clicked on your link and have been here looking around for at least a half an hour. I'm not even finished yet. It's great to find someone who has such great advice on so many aspects of running a home. I should add that I'm completely jealous of your house full of new furniture, and that I love your chalkboard pantry door idea. It's great to find you!
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! I love organizing.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, looking at this is like looking at my own system,, lol. Yes walmart all the way for their cheap bins, and even then it still cost more than I would have liked to spend. I love that I am not the only one who still doesn't own a fancy labeling system, although sometimes I do wish I had one. I actually have used masking tape very successfully for labeling. It comes off great if I ever want to remove it. Not as nice as labels, that cna be printed. Mine are all handwritten, but works for me. lol,,, Thanks for emailing me back last week. I will get back to you about that. As soon as I post something that is considered appropriate for your party, I will def post it. Don't think a garden redo, or pantry redo qualify, for twice owned, but hey if you don't mind I will put that for now. Thanks again for checking me out, and linking up your drawer organizer ideas. Take care!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Here is my space . . . http://theautocrathaley.blogspot.com/2010/04/where-i-create.html
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful!! I can't imagine how much time you put into organizing all of your stuff!! I love the matching containers...it just makes things look so professional and more organized. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love how you organized all of your crafts! I'm still in the decluttering phase for my office/craft room, but I'm definitely keeping this post in mind as I go about organizing all of my crafty stuff!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, this looks great! I have been thinking about our craft supplies lately...I have several larger bins and I feel like they just turn into a big jumbled mess. Maybe smaller, more specific containers are the way to go. They definitely look great! :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks so GOOD! How do your kids do at keeping it that way? I feel like my art supply organization quickly falls apart when the kiddos attack it.
ReplyDeleteI'm dreaming of being this organized in my craft room...
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing and looks great! The right organizers really help to utilize the space. Great job!

That is awesome! This last week I also went out and bought a bunch of bins to organize all my sewing, crafts and art supplies. You're area does look neater than mine though. ;) I Love having individual bins though! It makes it so much easier to get into and put away! :) Thanks for sharing! (I came from The Girl Creative)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is very organized! I need to do something like this!
