TIP OF THE DAY-Dust Your Coils

Dust your Refrigerator Coils

I just thought that I would give you a quick but important cleaning tip of the day.

This is important to do and most people don't realize dust on the coils makes the fridge work harder and less efficient. It can be a messy job but it does save money on the electric bill and with everyone running their air conditioning so much now, I thought that this would be a great reminder.

Here is a picture of my before. Gross, I know!

I vacuumed and washed the floor.  Here is the after.

I vacuumed under the front and the back.  It was really bad!!!

I was only able to get the first and last grates because I couldn’t get my vacuum any further.  As you can see, it is really dusty.  But at least I was able to get what I got.  And my fridge started to work better immediately.

I hope that this was a great tip and reminder.

Remember, this helps your fridge work better and saves your electricity!

Have a great Sunday!

  1. Thanks for the great tip! I know it's no fun to do that but it's important for maintaining the life of your fridge. I better get dusting!

  2. Thanks for the reminder. I noticed your hardwoods in the kitchen. I also have them, and people are surprised that I didn't tile. I think it gives the house a nice flow. Also, would you tell us how you clean your carpets. I am wondering if you use any of your Shaklee products in a machine. I know someone who just had their carpets cleaned and they are still smelling chemicals three days later. Thanks.

  5. I'm a lucky girl, my husband has taken ownership of cleaning the fridge:-) He loves it to be spotless too. I must confess he is a better detail cleaner than I...again lucky girl here:-)

  8. This is a funny post to me!
What's funny is, just 2 weeks ago, I cleaned out our fridge-inside and out-coils, water line, defrosted the freezer--you name it.
Then last week, the fridge died! Ugh.
    It was only 12.
We all laughed because maybe the dirt was the only thing holding it together!
(The inside wasn't as bad as I just made it sound--but the outside-well, it needed a good cleaning!)
So, I have new fridge, and a regular cleaning schedule for it, too!
Oh! I noticed you also found your BHG Cookbook, too! Now you can bake again ;)
Hugs to you as you make your home!
